Installs, maintains and repairs residential, industrial and commercial air/refrigerating systems. Will assist with other job duties or responsibilities as requested.

  1. Lay outs for installation of structural and functional components
  2. As needed; installs mounting brackets and hangers into floor and walls of building
  3. Lifts or hoists and aligns components into position
  4. Screws, bolts, rivets, welds and brazes parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores and pipes
  5. Cuts, threads and connects pipe to functional components and water or power system
  6. Pumps specified gas or fluid into system; familiar with refrigerants
  7.  Starts system, observes operation, reads gauges and instruments and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure and temperature in system.  Performs winterization of systems
  8. Replaces or adjusts defective or worn parts to repair systems
  9. Installs wiring to connect components to electric power source
  10. Creates/manages preventive maintenance on all equipment
  11. Maintains an adequate inventory of materials, parts, equipment and tools
  12. Tracks all work via work orders,  CMMS
  13. Follows all local, state and federal regulations and codes
  14. Adhere to all company safety and security policies
  15. Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, state and federal laws
  16. Performs other duties as assigned


To perform this job effectively, a person must possess competency in each knowledge and skill satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Experience working with sheet metal preferred
  • Computer competent. Capable of using and learning various software packages including CMMS
  • Must be HVAC technician certified
  • Must hold a current, valid Montana state drivers’ license or be able to obtain a Montana state drivers’ license within 30 days of start date
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a passport within 30 days of start date
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key clients, vendors and staff
  • Must be able to travel in and around Waterton Lakes National Park and Glacier National Park on a daily basis
  • Must be able to gain entry to Canada

  • Position may require working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk and hear
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
