Overview

Part-time, temporary assignment for winter season (2-3 day per week). Ensures courteous greeting of all patrons. Sells merchandise and assists customers with their selections. Ensures accurate and efficient accounting of all transactions. Operates cash register. Stocking, pricing, cleaning, and inventorying sales items. Assists with other duties in the department as necessary.

Responsibilities

  1. Operates retail POS system, takes cash from customers, will ring each sale on register per instructions and make proper change.
  2. Promotes and sells merchandise in grocery store. Helps customers with their selections by making suggestions in a friendly and helpful way.
  3. Assists with receiving of merchandise deliveries from warehouse and vendors. Verifies quality, quantity and damages, and reports discrepancies to manager.
  4. Displays merchandise in an appealing fashion that will tend to increase sales.  May be assigned primarily to one section of the store. Keeps displays filled and attractive.
  5. Is responsible for following all federal and state policies & regulations for sale of alcoholic beverages.
  6. Maintains highest quality standards in regard to alcohol sales.  
  7. Keeps constant vigilance of all customers and employees to ensure that store security policies are enforced. Reports irregularities to manager.
  8. Maintains proper service and cleanliness of snack bar/self-service food mart if applicable, including daily mopping and vacuuming.
  9. May be assigned cash bank and will be responsible for balancing cash at the beginning and end of shift.
  10. May have to stock refrigerator and/or freezer with food and beverage items.
  11. May require daily cleaning and sanitizing of soft serve ice cream machine.
  12. Assists in taking physical inventories at mid-season and at close of season.
  13. Vacuums and/or mops floors on a daily basis.
  14. Adheres to all Company policies and regulations. 

Qualifications

  • Previous retail and/or cash handling experience preferred.
  • Excellent guest service skills required.
  • Must be able to handle customer concerns in a tactful manner.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be outgoing, courteous and friendly in dealing with customers and co-workers.
  • Must have ability to follow directions and multi task.
  • Must possess ability to receive deliveries and stock shelves efficiently and accurately.
  • Must possess patience and able to handle high-pressure situations with guests.
  • Successfully completes alcohol sales & service training.

Work Environment

  • Grocery store in a National Park/Hotel environment.
  • Job may require going up and down stairs on a daily basis.
  • Job requires constant standing and walking.
  • Non-Smoking environment.
