The Bar Manager models the way to provide and ensure that the highest quality of guest service, alcohol and food & beverage services, and sanitation & safety standards are maintained. Responsible for the setup, maintenance and operation of bar operations. Coordinates activities of workers engaged in selling and serving alcoholic beverages to our guests in a responsible and pleasant manner. Must assist in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary.



  1.  Arrives to work on time and in proper uniform.
  2. Models the way for successful bar/lounge operations.
  3. Manages (plans, directs, schedules, supervises, evaluates, rewards and disciplines) all work done by bar/lounge staff.
  4. Holds daily pre-shift meeting.
  5. Provides direction and efficient flow of bar operations during service.
  6. Provides exceptional bartending services and on-floor food service for guests.
  7. Maintains effective lines of communication between dining room, kitchen and other departments.
  8. Ensures standards of appearance and sanitation are maintained on a daily basis.
  9. Ensures good safety & sanitation practices of employees.
  10. Provides on-going training for lesser experienced employees.
  11. Takes fast and appropriate action to solve problems.
  12. Courteously assists with customer concerns that relate to service and quality of the bar.
  13. Maintains effective cost and portion controls in bar by using accepted pouring methods.
  14. Maintains inventory according to established policy.
  15. Responsible for the ordering, receipt and storage of all alcohol inventories and bar equipment.
  16. Collects currency and keeps an accurate account for control. Gives receipt with every transaction.
  17. Responsible for following federal and state policies and regulations for serving alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner.
  18. Enforces and adheres to all Company policies and regulations
  19. Assists in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary


  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Hospitality management degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Bar/Restaurant supervisory position preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ Bartending experience required.
  • Hospitality computer (Aloha, POS) systems experience desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Must be team-oriented, positive and upbeat.
  • Must demonstrate solid leadership skills and the ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Must be pleasant, helpful, friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic and courteous in dealing with guests and co-workers.
  • Experience with a diverse seasonal staff, and seasonal hotel restaurant operations helpful.
  • Must possess in-depth, working knowledge of service standards.
  • Efficient knowledge in kitchen operations, cooking and timing expected.
  • Expert knowledge of food, liquor and labor cost controls required.
  • Able to handle guest concerns in a tactful and caring manner.
  • Must be able to multi-task an.
  • Must possess neat and pleasant grooming habits.

Work Environment

  •  Clean, orderly and safe hotel bar and dining area in a National Park setting and/or historic hotel.
  • Fast paced Food & Beverage environment.
  • Position requires flexible scheduling, including evenings, late nights, holidays and weekends.
  • Job requires constant walking, bending, kneeling, handling, reaching, grasping, lifting 25+ lbs. and repetitive motions.
  • Occasional lifting of product in excess of 50lbs. may be required.
  • Non-smoking environment.
