Maintains high quality standards in regard to alcohol service, sanitation and safety.  Responsible for the setup, maintenance and operation of the bar.  Coordinates activities of workers engaged in selling and serving alcoholic beverages for consumption to our guests in a responsible, pleasant manner.  Must assist in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary. 


  1. Supervises all work done by bar staff, including; bartenders, barbacks, watistaff & cocktail servers.  
  2. Will provide directional flow of bar operations during service.    
  3. Ensures standards of appearance and sanitation are maintained on a daily basis. 
  4. Holds daily pre-shift meeting to get staff on task for daily service. 
  5. Ensures good safety & sanitation practices of employees. 
  6. Provides on-going training for lesser experienced employees.  
  7. Takes fast and appropriate action to solve problems.  
  8. Courteously assists with customer concerns that relate to service and quality of the bar. 
  9. Maintains effective cost and portion controls in bar by using accepted pouring methods.  
  10. Maintains inventory according to established policy. 
  11. Responsible for the ordering, receipt and storage of all alcohol inventories and bar equipment. 
  12. Maintains line of communication between dining room, kitchen and other departments. 
  13. Collects currency and keeps an accurate account for control.  Gives receipt with every transaction. 
  14. Responsible for following federal and state policies and regulations for serving alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner. 
  15. Enforces and adheres to all Company policies and regulations


  • Hospitality management degree, or equal experience in field required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Bar/Restaurant supervisory position preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ Bartending experience required.
  • Hospitality computer (Aloha, POS) systems experience desirable. 
  • Must have good table service skills.
  • Must have knowledge of bar accounting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.  Must be pleasant, helpful, friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic and courteous in dealing with guests and co-workers.
  • Must be team-oriented.
  • Able to handle guest concerns in a tactful and caring manner.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts.
  • Must possess neat and pleasant grooming habits. 

Work Environment

  • Clean, orderly and safe hotel bar and dining area in a National Park setting and/or historic hotel.
  • Fast paced Food & Beverage environment.
  • Position requires flexible scheduling, including evenings, late nights, holidays and weekends.
  • Job requires constant walking, bending, kneeling, handling, reaching, grasping, lifting 25+ lbs. and repetitive motions.
  • Occasional lifting of product in excess of 50lbs. may be required.
  • Non-smoking environment.
