Daily set up and service of the coffee/espresso counter, candy/ice cream counter and the display and sale of retail merchandise. Assists in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary.


  1. Arrives to work on time and in proper uniform.
  2. Responsible for set up, maintenance and operation of the Candy Shoppe and coffee & espresso counter.
  3. Acts as Barista; Serves coffee/espresso drinks, candy, snacks, and retail merchandise to guests in a friendly and outgoing manner.
  4. Operates POS cash register and gives receipt with every transaction.
  5. May be assigned a cash bank and is responsible for balancing cash at the beginning and end of each shift.
  6. Ensures standards of appearance and sanitation are maintained on a daily basis.
  7. Keeps all areas fully stocked, clean, and sanitary. Replenishes stock and inventories as needed.
  8. May have to stock refrigeration and/or freezer with food and beverage items.
  9. Assists with receiving of merchandise deliveries from both warehouse and direct deliveries. Verifies quality, quantity and damages and reports any discrepancies to manager.
  10. Assists in taking physical inventories throughout season.
  11. Follows all cleaning and safety procedures. Uses caution around machinery.
  12. Maintains proper service and cleanliness of snack bar/self-service food area; including daily vacuuming, sweeping and mopping.
  13. Participates in ongoing training and the GPI sanitation program.
  14. Takes part in all sales goals and greets and informs guests of promotions.
  15. Sells merchandise from store and makes yes-yes choices available to the guest.
  16. Keeps constant vigilance of all customers and employees to ensure that store security policies are enforced.
  17. Handles guest concerns in a professional manner and takes fast and appropriate action to solve problems.
  18. Adheres to all Company policies and regulations.
  19. Assists in other departments, or with other duties as required.



  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Previous café or barista experience preferred.
  • Previous Retail experience required.
  • Hospitality POS (Aloha) systems experience desirable.
  • Must have experience with cash handling.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Must be pleasant, helpful, friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic and courteous in dealing with guests and co-workers.
  • Must be team-oriented, positive and upbeat.
  • Must be able to multi-task and effectively cross train in required areas.
  • Able to handle guest concerns in a tactful and caring manner.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts.
  • Must possess neat and pleasant grooming habits.
  • May be required to obtain certification in CPR/First Aid.

Work Environment

  • Food & Beverage operation in a National Park setting.
  • Location at times may include high volumes of people, loud noise and varying temperatures.
  • Position includes continuous face to face interactions with guests and employees.
  • Position requires the use of Espresso machines and other F&B equipment.
  • Position requires frequent walking and standing, occasional lifting of 25+ lbs., and repetitive motions.
  • Position may require flexible scheduling, including weekends, holidays, split shifts, etc.
