Overview

Dishwashers are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of work station and all kitchen areas, equipment, dishware, utensils, machines, etc. during each individual shift. May also assist in a variety of other tasks as requested, including the employee cafeteria, or various kitchen stations. Must be able to assist in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary. 

Responsibilities

  1. Reports to work on time and in proper uniform.
  2. Receives instructions from Manager upon arrival.
  3. Maintains dish/work station and surrounding areas.
  4. Responsible for fast and efficient cleaning of all items, including dishes, utensils, pots & pans, coolers, etc.
  5. Cleans and sanitizes dish area, pulls mats, sweeps and mops floors, cleans coolers & freezers in kitchen, etc.
  6. Maintains clean and safe work area at all times.
  7. Follows all standard cleaning procedures, and maintains safety practices around machinery.
  8. May work in designated stations set by the Location/Sous Chefs.
  9. May assist cooks in daily preparations of various daily preps & menu items.
  10. May assist with employee cafeteria operations, as requested.                             
  11. May assist with stocking, unloading trucks, organizing stock room, etc.
  12. Helps to train new employees or transfers from other departments.
  13. Completes GPI sanitation program.
  14. Adheres to all hotel policies and regulations.
  15. Alerts Manager of any hazardous conditions or safety concerns.
  16. Assists in other departments or other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous Dish or Kitchen experience preferred.
  • Must learn and demonstrate knowledge of proper sanitation & safety policies.
  • Must be able to perform all manual aspects of kitchen operation inclusive of dish machine operations.
  • Must be able to read and write clearly and effectively.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and respectfully.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Must have a positive attitude and “can do” work ethic.
  • Must be team oriented, positive and upbeat. 

Work Environment

  • Non-smoking environment
  • Kitchen/Cafeteria in a Hotel, within a National Park environment. 
  • Climate control equipment may or may not be present. Working in varying degrees of temperatures is required, including coolers, freezers, hot line, etc.
  • Job requires standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, handling, reaching, grasping, lifting 50 lbs., and repetitive motions.
  • Job requires dealing with soaps, and cleaning chemicals on a continuous basis.
  • Kitchen environment may have times of high noise levels.
  • Varying hours and flexible scheduling may be required, including; mornings, evenings, split shifts, weekends and holidays.
