The Golf Shop Host will ensure guests and employees receive proper assistance with golf related activities, inlcuding; tee times, apparel, equipment and instruction. Is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality guest services are provided, Safety & cleanliness standards are met, and GPI policies and operating procedures for the Golf Shop at Glacier Park Lodge are followed.  


  1. Arrives to work on time and in proper uniform. 
  2. Is responsible for maintaining golf carts, clubs and equipment on a daily basis. Storage, cleanliness and proper care, etc. 
  3. Registers golfers, collects money, rents hand or motor carts, clubs, etc.  Arranges guest golf tee times.
  4. Displays promotes and sells merchandise in golf shop.  
  5. May instruct novices and players who wish to improve their skill in playing golf.  
  6. Makes frequent rounds of course as assigned, to set & remove pins, empty trash, note condition of course, etc. Ensures green fees are paid by inspecting player registration cards. 
  7. Will maintain awareness of course usage to prevent unauthorized persons from using facilities, keeps play running smoothly and assists injured or ill players. 
  8. Notifies Golf Shop Manager of any damaged or hazardous areas on golf course so they can be marked for repair.  
  9. Reports any issues, drinking fountains out of order and other unusual circumstances such as cattle or bear on course, etc. 
  10. Prevents players from entering course beyond starting tee, advises players to speed up or slow down in order to alleviate bottlenecks, and explains rules of the game to players to settle disputes. 
  11. Cautions players against tearing up turf or otherwise abusing course.  
  12. Protects and controls equipment and golf carts.  Returns lost equipment to golf shop. 
  13. Checks to see that benches, waste receptacles, ball washers, towels, pins (flags) are at each green or tee.  
  14. Ensures areas inside and outside/around golf shop are kept neat and clean at all times. 
  15. Assists Golf Shop Manager in the daily balancing of cash and depositing of receipts. 
  16. Adheres to all Company policies and regulations. 
  17. Assists in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary.


  • Previous golf shop experience preferred.
  • Experience with golf tournaments & events preferred.
  • Previous experience providing golf instruction to golfers of varying skill levels helpful.
  • Must possess good communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous cash hanlding, POS systems and cash register experience preferred.
  • Must be pleasant, helpful, friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic and courteous in dealing with guests and co-workers.
  • Must be able to handle guest concerns in a tactful and caring manner.
  • Must be able to control and direct flow of golf play and course use.
  • Must be team-oriented.
  • Must possess neat and pleasant grooming habits.
  • Experience with golf tournaments, public speaking and handling of large groups preferred.

Work Environment

  • Small golf course/golf shop environment at a historic hotel.
  • National Park setting.
  • Non-smoking environment.
  • Job requires working outdoors, in varying temperatures/weather conditions.
  • Flexible scheduling is required, from early morning shifts to late evening shifts.
