This Human Resources Intern position is designed specifically for currently enrolled Human Resources students, seeking a dynamic & rewarding internship in their field of study. 


The HR Intern provides a variety of administrative support to the People & Culture (HR) team, including but not limited to: oversight of the HR check-in room, assisting with employee arrivals & shuttles, employee check in, general onboarding and orientation, data entry & processing to ensure the efficient flow of information between all departments, and the handling of employment related questions & concerns.

Some applicant screening, interviewing and hiring may be included.


This role requires great attention to detail, the ability to handle large volumes of work and large volumes of data accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner.


Will assist in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary. 


This position is based at our East Glacier Administrative offices and runs from early-May through late September. Free Housing & Meals are provided on site, to qualified candidates.


Occasional travel to all GPI properties in & around Glacier Park is required, including the Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton, Alberta Canada. 


  • Arrives to work on time and in proper uniform.
  • Operates with integrity & confidentiality in all matters.
  • Is responsible for the Employee Check-In office, including: check-in and on-boarding of new hires, processing of new hire related paperwork, creating & maintaining employee files, ordering employee name tags and ID's, uniforms and other related items
  • Will assist with New Hire general Orientations. Speaking to & presenting in front of small groups required. 
  • Represents GPI in a positive and professional manner at all times
  • Accurately & confidentially processes large volumes of information both electronically and in written format
  • Efficiently files, inputs and uploads data to personnel files and HRIS systems (ICims, Power Source) to properly maintain and update personnel records
  • Works closely with Payroll department to ensure efficient & accurate flow of necessary information
  • Assists with tracking Pay-Pal account to upload, track & process employment deposits
  • Processes Shoes 4 Crews orders and other employee related accounts
  • Responsible for ordering office supplies and maintaining appropriate levels of office inventory for the East Glacier office
  • Facilitates new hire transportation and arrival information and assists with employee arrivals and shuttles if necessary
  • May assist in screening employment applications and conduct reference checks, to assess qualifications or eligibility
  • Will assist with employee recognition & rewards initiatives
  • Will assist with employee communications; newsletters and materials
  • Will assist with planning, promoting and executing Employee Activities
  • May assist with processing background checks of new hire candidates
  • May assist with job postings to ensure positions are properly posted and advertised
  • May assist with processing unemployment claims
  • Visits post office & GPI mail room daily to ensure proper flow of company & employee mail 
  • Explains company personnel policies, benefits and procedures to employees and applicants and answers related questions
  • Develops professional working relationships with, coworkers, vendors and local community organizations
  • Position requires occasional travel to all GPI properties in and around Glacier National Park, the surrounding areas and Waterton, Alberta Canada
  • Assists with other job duties and responsibilities as required


  • Currently enrolled in a Human Resources or Business Administration program or University.
  • Previous HR, Admin experience helpful. 
  • General knowledge of Human Resources function & applications required
  • Functional knowledge of employment law, policies and regulations helpful
  • Experience in seasonal hotel/hospitality operations helpful
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills and time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle large volumes of work efficiently and accurately with extreme attention to detail is required
  • Knowledge of Applicant tracking, Information systems and standard Microsoft office programs helpful
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic and courteous in dealing with employees, guests and coworkers
  • Must be able to handle employee concerns with discretion, in a professional and tactful manner
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and adapt to a fast paced, high volume, changing environment 
  • Ability to legally enter Canada required
  • A valid drivers license required

Work Environment

  1. Administrative office environment in an historic hotel/business office.
  2. Remote National Park environment.
  3. Job requires working longhours, weekends and holidays during summer season.
  4. Long periods of sitting and standing.
  5. Long periods of typing/data entry.
  6. Non-smoking environment.
