Overview

Ensures company laundry is cleaned, folded, and transported as efficiently as possible in a safe and clean environment, while giving personal best in service. Assists with other responsibilities, or in other departments as needed.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Arrives to work on time and in proper uniform.
  2. Laundry associates assist with any of the following tasks on a daily basis:
  3. Meets daily Linen truck and assists with removal of linen from truck.
  4. Prepares linens for washers.
  5. Washes linens per instruction.
  6. Dries linen coming from washers, per instructions.
  7. Sorts linen per instruction, noting quality of cleanliness, and quantity required.
  8. May take and ready linen orders from locations, based on instructions.
  9. Prepares linen for folding machines and press.
  10. Operates fold/press machine according to operational procedures.
  11. Keeps work areas clean and free of objects, debris, dust and lint.
  12. Adheres to all Company policies and regulations.
  13. Assists in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary.

Qualifications

 

  • Previous commercial laudnry experience helpful.
  • Able to effectively communicate with managers and co-workers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the quality standards learned during training.
  • Must be organized, with an eye for detail and able to multi-task.
  • Must complete mandatory training provided by Laundry Manager or Supervisor that includes the understanding of HOW-WHAT-WHEN-WHY use of approved/authorized detergents, chemicals and commercial laundry equipment.
  • Must have ability to use hands and feet consistently and unencumbered. 
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods, up to 8 hours per shift, while handling linens and operating machinery. 
  • Must be able to lift heavy bundles of linen regularly, and in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to use good judgement in determining quality and cleanliness of linen prior to shipping.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts as requested.
  • Must possess visual & physical ability required to run machines and sort linen, etc.

Work Environment

  • Commercial laundry operation in a National Park hotel environment.
  • Open assembly line, machine environment.
  • Machines are mostly manual in nature.
  • Machine noise is present from washers, dryers and folders operating at various pitches throughout the day.
  • Area is not climate controlled. Varying degrees of temperature encountered.
  • Detergents/chemicals are present that could create the need for gloves and/or breathing safety devices.
  • Must be able to follow directions and execute tasks as requested.
  • Job requires constant standing, walking, bending, lifting in excess of 50 lbs., carrying, stretching and moving.
  • Non-smoking environment.
