Overview

Ensures the Company Laundry Service is run in an organized and efficient manner within a safe and clean environment.  Attains and maintains the required standards of the Company.   Assists with other responsibilities as required.

Responsibilities

  1. Arrives to work on time, and in proper uniform.
  2. Assists the Laundry Manager in all facets of the laundry operation including, but not limited to, the following duties.
  3. Trains laundry associates in all areas of linen care and quality of the finished product.
  4. Monitors progress of daily tasks and fosters a feeling of teamwork among staff.
  5. Retains proper controls on inventory of linen and supplies.
  6. Assures proper time-keeping for hours worked, in the absence of the Manager.
  7. Makes sure equipment is being maintained in proper operating order.
  8. Acts as supervisor of all laundry personnel in the absence of the Laundry Manager.
  9. Takes linen off truck and sorts for the washers.
  10. Washes linen coming off trucks per instructions.
  11. Dries linen coming from washers per instructions.
  12. Sorts linen per instructions, noting quality and quantity required.
  13. Sends linen orders based on instructions.
  14. Prepares linen for folding machine.
  15. Operates fold / press machine.
  16. Keeps work area clean and free of dust.
  17. Enforces and follows all Company policies and regulations.
  18. Assists in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary. 

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of a commercial laundry operation with at least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must possess ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with staff and all levels of management.
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic and courteous in dealing with co-workers.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the quality standards learned during training.
  • Must complete mandatory training provided by Laundry Manager that includes the understanding of HOW-WHAT-WHEN-WHY use of approved/authorized detergents, chemicals and commercial laundry equipment.
  • Must be organized, with an eye for detail and able to multi-task.
  • Must be able to lift heavy bundles of linen, sometimes in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Must have ability to organize & motivate teams.
  • Monitor progress to promote efficiency and productivity.
  • Must be able to schedule workload to maintain required distribution.
  • Possess ability to train employees in all areas of linen care and quality of the finished product.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts.
  • Must possess valid drivers’ license
  • Ability to operate company vehicle, Van or Box truck as assigned.

 

Work Environment

  • Commercial laundry operation in a National Park hotel environment.
  • Open assembly line, machine environment.
  • Machines are mostly manual in nature.
  • Machine noise is present from washers, dryers and folders operating at various pitches throughout the day.
  • Area is not climate controlled. Varying degrees of temperature encountered.
  • Detergents/chemicals are present that could create the need for gloves and/or breathing safety devices.
  • Must be able to follow directions and execute tasks as requested.
  • Job requires constant standing, walking, bending, lifting in excess of 50 lbs., carrying, stretching and moving.
  • Non-smoking environment.
