Overview

Retail Managers are responsible for day to day operations of the seasonal retail outlet, including; supervision of retail staff, ordering, inventory, cash control, maintaining and increasing sales and profitability. Ensures the highest standards of guest service are met. Assists in other duties as requested or necessary.

Responsibilities

  1. Arrives to work on time and in proper uniform.
  2. Manages retail store performing all management and sales functions.
  3. Responsible for profit and loss of store: a) sales; b) cost of sales; c) inventory; d) labor; e) inspections
  4. Conducts ongoing training and store orientation for all employees.
  5. Plans and posts work schedules one week in advance.
  6. Ensures accurate time recording.
  7. Supervises employees to ensure efficient and productive job performance.
  8. May assign employees to responsibilities where they are best qualified.
  9. Receives and verifies all merchandise shipments and directs shipments to appropriate areas. Verifies quantity, quality and damages and reports all discrepancies.
  10. Displays merchandise in an appealing fashion that will tend to increase sales.
  11. Keeps displays filled and attractive.
  12. Maintains adequate inventory in store by ordering from warehouse and direct vendors.
  13. Works directly with Retail director to reduce and move inventory as season winds down.
  14. Ensures all store security policies are enforced.
  15. Follows and enforces strict adherence all state, federal and company policies for the sales of alcoholic beverages.
  16. Confers with Location Manager to remedy security concerns, employee problems and other issues.
  17. Supervises physical inventory at mid-season and close of season.
  18. Responsible for daily balancing of cash and depositing receipts.
  19. Responsible for vending machines and reports, if available.
  20. Enforces all Company policies and regulations.
  21. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous Retail management experience required.
  • Must have previous display, merchandising experience and cash register operating experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of merchandise costs, labor costs and controls.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess ability to place and receive deliveries, stock shelves, and lift heavy items in safe manner.
  • Must possess ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of management.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Must be able to effectively lead & motive a diverse staff.
  • Must successfully complete Alcohol service training.
  • Experience in seasonal retail operations helpful.
  • Must be courteous and friendly in dealing with customers and co-workers.

Work Environment

  • Seasonal Retail outlet in a National Park, Hotel environment.
  • Job may require flexible scheduling; long hours, split shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Job requires constant standing and walking.
  • Job requires repetitive motion and lifting of product up to or in excess of 50lbs.
  • Non-smoking environment.
